SAILING!! Spotlight on Deloitte Sailing Club Spring Regatta
Last weekend, over 90 Deloitte Sailors in 10 yachts hit the Solent for our Spring Regatta – a weekend of racing, dinners, games and some live music on the Isle of Wight – thankfully all facilitated by some sun-burn-worthy weather and wind. The weekend kicked-off with a club dinner at Port Solent, followed by a day of sailing games en route to Cowes, where a generous BBQ was provided overlooking the harbour sunset. Sunday catered for the ultra-competitive, with a couple of close races, culminating with an anchoring-up by Priory bay for a sandwich and swim before returning to Portsmouth.
The Spring Regatta is just one of the many events the club organises: with an Autumn regatta to follow, as well as members supporting our client days in Cowes Sailing week, this Summer.
Who are Deloitte Sailing Club?
Deloitte Sailing Club is one of Deloitte’s most thriving, heritage sports and social clubs – we welcome sailors from all backgrounds and levels of experience and boast over 750 members across the UK. There is a motivated committee who organise regattas, training, socials and events, and the community is diverse with ambitions and commitments to become even more so. Just last month, we organised specific training for some of our female members to advance to Skipper and 2IS (2nd in command) level, so we have a more balanced representation of leaders on the water. Sailing is a thrilling mix-bag of roughing it a bit, enormous amounts of fun and networking with new people in Deloitte, as well as learning and sharpening your crewing skills. Yes, we’re a competitive bunch who love to race (and win!), but there’s also ample time to chat, eat, drink, sunbath and experience this beautiful sport. Our warm and inclusive community includes all levels of Deloitte employees from across all our businesses – and is evidently *so* lovely it even boasts continued commitment from Deloitte alumni.
